Parking lot safety and etiquette
The Staff parking lot will be CLOSED daily from 8:45-9:15 AM and from 3:20-3:45 PM for the safety of our kids. Please respect the ONE-WAY flow and the 5 MIN drop-off lane There has been an increase in safety hazards in this parking lot, including double parking in the 5 minute drop off lane and letting students run between other vehicles to get to the school yard. Safety is everyone's responsibility! |
HEY! We're walking here
Wondering why there is no Adult School Crossing Guard (ASCG) at Chapman Mills Dr and Beatrice Dr?
The School Zone Traffic Safety report that was completed 15-May-2018 indicated that while the volume of school children does meet the requirements, other thresholds of the council approved ASCG warranted criteria were not met.

The highest weighted criterion for a signalized intersection is to record if there is are conflicts identified between pedestrian and vehicular traffic during the study times. (30 minutes before and 10 minutes after the morning bell time, and 10 minutes before and 30 minutes after the afternoon bell time)
If there are 2 or more conflicts identified at the signalized intersection an adult crossing guard is to be considered. A conflict is defined by a situation where either the driver or pedestrian has to take evasive action to avoid a collision. The review indicated that there were no instances where a child had to yield the right of way to a motorist during the pedestrian call or any conflicts where a pedestrian had to take evasive action to avoid a collision. As such an adult crossing guard cannot be suggested at this location at this time.
